When you are hungry the drive thru lane at your local fast-food restaurant may seem like a great idea. However, after reading this book you may want to reconsider the wisdom of getting yourself boxed in between cars especially if you have some enemies in town. This book’s story starts out with a family going to the local Taco Bell in Lynwood, California. It was late on a Sunday evening and the couple decided to pull into the drive thru lane to place their order for dinner. In the backseat was their daughter, Daisy, the cutest and sweetest four-year girl, who loved to go to Taco Bell. She was seated next to a young boy who was a close family friend.
They patiently waited in the drive thru lane trying to figure out what to order. They didn’t notice that a van had pull behind them blocking them in. Without a word being spoken, a hail of bullets from four firearms violently struck their small size car. After 51 shots being fired, their car looked more like a piece of Swiss cheese.
Immediately, the shooters jumped back in their van and sped away into the dark of night. Within minutes two good Samaritans came to the aid of the seriously injured victims in their mangled car. These saintly people placed the victims in their vehicle and drove them to the local hospital. Unfortunately, within an hour the loveable little girl and the young boy had white sheets covering their bullet riddle bodies pulled over their blood-soaked faces with their wide open eyes staring into space.
This book examines how the unrelenting deputies and tenacious detectives were able to track down the shooters. What is most amazing about this story is how a young prosecutor set out to build a strong case that would convince a jury of the shooters guilt. The book recounts what obstacles and challenges that the prosecution faced and how they were able to finally bring justice for little adorable Daisy.
