DETECTIVES TRACKING DOWN KILLERS

Certain homicide cases, aren’t easily solved. Often old gumshoes get criticize for not swiftly catching the crook and putting him in the slammer. Especially now days the public is so conditioned to all the CSI TV programs, they can’t understand why the detectives didn’t crack the case in 55 minutes. All their favorite TV characters have been doing it for years.

Because of all the misconception people have about detectives assigned to murder cases, I decided to set the record straight. That was when I created my Today’s Sherlock Holmes series. During my 43-year career as a prosecutor, I have come into contact with so many detectives who I have the highest admiration for. They seem to have a sixth sense to know what clues have legs and are worth pursuing.

This book Detectives Tracking Down Killers takes a long hard look at three murder cases that I spent time working on. I describe the first case as The Sunday Night Taco Bell Massacre. Here we examine how a Sheriff’s patrol deputy doggedly searched the streets looking for a unique van used in the Taco Bell shooting. His finding, opened the doors for the detectives to scour the van for any clue who might have driven it.

When the detectives received an anonymous tip as to whose guns were used, they tirelessly tracked down the culprit. Then the detectives decided to make a pack with the devil to rout out the actual killers. These detectives had to have thick skin to do what they did. Their action was brilliant and was able to see that justice was done for the victim which included a four-year-old little girl.

The second case discussed in this book could better be described as ‘You Can’t Get Blood Out Of A Turnip.’ It involved a big-time drug business when the cops busted their transporter. After the police seized all the dope the issue became who should suffer the $400,000 loss – the shipper or the potential receiver of the dope. The drug bosses thought it should be the shipper of the dope. However, the bigger question was how do you get that amount of cash out of the shipper?

Again, this case got solved by a patrol officer mentioning something to a detective. What was amazing was the fact that the detective ran with this slim amount of information. It mushroomed into locating a suspect in San Diego. Next the detective utilized incredible interrogation techniques to crack a large scale dope ring with tentacles throughout the country,

Finally, the last case involved the following of a Beretta handgun from one shooting too another. An LAPD detective was frustrated that he couldn’t bring closure to a God-Fearing family when their son was killed in a botched attempted robbery. The most the detective had were slugs recovered from the victim’s body which appeared to be fired from a Beretta handgun. This one detective meticulously follow the path of this Beretta and ultimately solve numerous cold homicide cases.

Sherlock Holmes was a fictional character create by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes had a unique way of figuring out ‘who done it.’ All the detectives discussed in this book were real and like Sherlock Holmes also had unique ways of solving their cases. The stories in this book reveals some of the most fascinating homicide investigations you will ever have a chance to read about.
