Summer 2020

Summer 2020

New cruises are on hold right now. The cruise lines have a myriad of issues that have to be worked out. The coronavirus struck at the heart of cruising since it involves large numbers of people packed together in a confined space.  The concept of social distancing won’t work when passengers congregate in theaters, dining rooms and often packed in tender boats and excursion buses.

All of this is compounded by ship passengers being required to travel long distances in crowded airplanes. Not to mention the fear of being stranded on a ship that can’t find ports that will permit them to dock.

It would seem that a Covet 19 vaccine will be the only way that cruisers will regain their sea legs and begin to rebook cruises. Unfortunately, the majority of the public doesn’t seem anxious to be the first guinea pig trying out the vaccine.  In other words, it may take more than a year before the cruisers climb back on board.

Now to update you as to my True Crime books, I can say that I have finished my fourth book in the Sherlock Holmes series. The title is Detectives Tracking Down Killers which highlights the incredible job that police detectives do in solving homicides that seem insoluble. Over my 43 years working with law enforcement, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand how certain detectives seem to have a sixth sense in spotting crumbs of evidence pointing to the killers. In this new book, I discuss three separate detectives who did an excellent job.

The first one involved a shooting at a Taco Bell Drive-thru in which two young children were murdered with over 50 rounds shot at them. The lead detective used minuscule pieces of information about the various firearms used which lead to the big break in the case.

The second case involves a double homicide in which a piece of trash was found in an ashtray of a vehicle. An astute detective had that scrape of paper checked for latent prints and as a result that lead to the supplier of the firearms and vehicles used by the killers.

The final case discussed in my recent true crime book, follows the path of a 9mm Beretta which was used in numerous homicides on the westside of Los Angeles.  A tenacious LAPD detective continued to follow the bloody trail of this Beretta which lead him to discover one homicide after another. Even though many of those other killings were out of his jurisdiction, he still pursued the killers and ultimately turned over the evidence to the appropriate authorities.

The thread running through all three cases is the fact that these homicide detectives discreetly went about their job without any fanfare or media attention. Without their innate talent and dogged determination, killers would have gotten away with MURDER.
